Couple this fact with their ability to operate very low priced Internet storefronts, they benefit from low operating expenses, while being able to buy huge volume. The end result, in simple terms, is that their ability to pass on savings to their consumers is limited only by their desire to make profits.
Over the past few years, the FTC has been active in promoting the ability of non-traditional contact lens sellers to operate in an open, competitive market. A March 2004 FTC report points out that "non-traditional contact lens sellers, such as Internet providers, represent a unique alternative distribution channel and offer some consumers a combination of price and convenience that they value highly". Thanks to recent legislation brought into effect with the help of the FTC and other consumer groups, the ability of consumers to purchase cheap contact lenses online is becoming easier.
Important among these legislative changes is the Ophthalmic Practices Rule and the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act (The Contact Lens Rule).
The Ophthalmic Practices Rule requires ophthalmologists and optometrists to provide their patients with a copy of their eyeglass prescription at no added cost after the completion of an eye examination. This was a very important development that helped pave the way for the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act.
The Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act, enacted by Congress in 2003, requires that eye care practitioners provide their patients with a copy of their contact lens prescription at no added charge upon the completion of a lens fitting. In the past, contact lenses were replaced infrequently and the lenses were typically purchased from eye care providers. These lenses were far more expensive than the soft, disposable lenses now favored by most lens
wearers.
In today's world, the vast majority of Americans wearing contact lenses choose to wear soft contact lenses that require more frequent replacement schedules. These lenses are far less expensive than the old, hard lenses of the past. As a result, price, choice, and convenience have become extremely important to consumers. The ability of consumers to obtain a copy of their contact lens prescription then allows them to shop around for the best prices
available. The result is increased competition and choice, and this only benefits consumers in terms of lower prices and greater selection.

Avoid scams and concentrate on real
As a self-proclaimed skeptic looking for a REAL way to make honest $ on the internet, it took a long time to find something I felt was worth investigating. I have checked out many sites, trying to compare potential with time and $ required to make them work. All I wanted was something where within a few days I saw results and the more I put in, the more I got out.
There is money to be made on the internet if you know how, the problem is finding a proven way that anyone can follow. Nearly every gardener has some type of gardening equipment. In fact, it’s nearly impossible to have a garden without used gardening equipment. While many gardeners do not have expensive or high-tech gardening tools, all of them have some type of gardening equipment for cultivating. Tools for cultivating can include both hand held tools and power tools. What kind you buy depends on how serious of a gardener you are. Hand tools include your everyday items like shovels, spading forks, rakes, trowels, and diggers. These can all be used to get a garden ready for planting and are relatively easy and do not require much strength to use. Other tools include a wheel cultivator, pickax, and mattock.
While power tools are a little more expensive than hand tools, they really cut down on the hard labor. The most essential piece of gardening equipment is undoubtedly the tiller. The tiller will break up the ground and get it ready for planting, chop up any debris, and help mix in fertilizer and compost. If you don’t want to spend the money on a tiller you can hire someone or rent a tiller for one time use. Other power tools that are very popular include chippers, garden shredders, and chain-saws.
If you have shrubs, hedges, or small trees in your yard, pruning tools are a vital piece of gardening equipment. Pruning shears are good for branches about ѕ” in diameter, while lopping shears can handle branches from a half inch up to about 2 inches. Pole pruners are on a pole and can reach branches about 15 feet above ground. Hedge shears and pruning saws are both larger, more heavy duty pruning tools for the serious gardener.
Since your plants must be watered in order to survive, and lets face it, it doesn’t rain whenever we want it to, gardening equipment for watering is a must have. The one thing you can’t get along without is a water hose, everything after that is optional. Many gardeners use sprinklers or s drip irrigation hose. There are even timers you can purchase for sprinklers or drip hoses, if you are willing to drop the extra cash.
Gardening without gardening equipment would be a nightmare. Sure there are some people who enjoy getting a little dirty while they plant their flowers, but even those types of people have the most basic of gardening tools, like a rake or a hoe. Gardening equipment is a part of gardening, as important as the dirt and the seeds.

There are many types of collectors and collections out there. Some of the most popular collections may be baseball cards, stamps, and coins. Some automobile aficionados with the means collect classic cars; a famous example would be Jay Leno. Unfortunately not everyone has the funds for an expensive collection but this does not have to stop you from cultivating an interesting and lovable collection of your own.
My most favorite collection belongs to my grandmother. She collects salt and pepper shakers. Each set was hand-picked and this impressive collection was built with humble means and homegrown affection. At last count I believe she had around a hundred different salt and pepper shakers. Some are glass, others are made of metal, but most of them are ceramic. Some of my favorites are the hand-painted ceramic shakers that are in different shapes of vegetables. There is something very heartwarming about the country personality in her collection of salt and pepper shakers that you rarely see outside of the Midwest.
Most people do not consider salt and pepper shakers to be anything special. We all have a set sitting on our kitchen table that we rarely give much thought to. Growing up with my grandmother’s salt and pepper shaker collection I developed a fondness towards silly little shakers and keep my eye out for interesting ones. I am happy to say that you can find salt and pepper shakers at all kinds of stores, including tourist shops, stores carrying various house wares, and even gift shops at theme parks.
If you find yourself developing a similar affection toward salt and pepper shakers, there is really only one piece of advice that I have to give on this matter. Always keep the shakers together. They are married, a sort of couple, and should never be separated. This piece of advice not only comes from my adopted mentality towards the shakers, but also several years spent in the restaurant industry and in catering service. It is just a simple courtesy in that we provide to the shakers as well as an aesthetic standard to be kept up.
I think that owning a cute pair of salt and pepper shakers is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to jazz up any kitchen table. I hope to carry on the tradition that my grandmother started of respecting this everyday kitchen addition and adding something a little bit more special to their existence.
A review of opening statements
For attendees of my Telesales Rep Colleges, and customized training programs for clients, I have a standing offer of evaluating their opening statements afterward. Here are a few submitted by the pros at Dobbs Publishing, a group of niched magazines for auto enthusiasts.
Joe Galloway faxed over several openers. The first one:
“Good morning Mr. Grabowski, my name is Joe Galloway. I am with Dobbs Publishing and Super Ford magazine. If I've caught you at a good time I'd like to discuss your mail order program to determine if we might be able to help increase your profitability in this area of your business.”
Not bad, but we can make it better. First, this opener touches on the time issue before mentioning the possible result the prospect will get. Although I like this method of respecting the listener's time, I suggest it appear after the possible benefit.
Although the remainder of it has a better chance of creating interest than resistance, let's spice it up by getting a bit more specific with the possible benefits.
Here's a suggestion.
After introducing himself and the magazine, Joe could say, “I notice that you target Ford enthusiasts with your mail and phone order ads. Our magazine reaches proven direct marketing buyers, and if I've caught you at a good time, I'd like to discuss some potential opportunities to promote to Ford owners who you might not be reaching now.”
Here's another Joe submitted.
“I'm Joe Galloway with Dobbs Publishing. We specialize in reaching mail order customers through seven very targeted automotive magazines. If I've caught you at a good time, I'd like to review the opportunities that these titles might afford you to strengthen your mail order programs, and ultimately maximize your profitability.”
I like the first part, but the second half got a bit wordy and formal. Let's make it more conversational with “If I've caught you at a good time, I'd like to discuss some ways you might be able to get more catalog and mail order customers.”
A Call to an Existing Customer
Matt French submitted one for a call to a regular advertiser, with the call objective being to increase the ad size.
“This is Matt French from Super Ford Magazine. I'm calling this morning in regards to the current ad you are running with us. I've noticed you have quite a few products in your 2/3 page ad, and I was wondering, depending on how much you plan on growing your business this year, if you would have a few minutes to discuss the opportunities that exist in gaining more market share by increasing your ad size?”
First, referring to the customer's existing situation is good, since it lets him know you're actually thinking about him as opposed to just “smilin and dialin.” What I would avoid, though, is any mention in the opening statement about increasing ad size. They're not ready yet; they'll look at that as an expense, not at the potential return.
Here's an alternative.
“I was reviewing the products in the ad you're now running with us, and came up with some ideas. Depending on what your growth and promotional plans are for the next year or so, I might have a few options worth considering to generate more revenue from your ads.”
Notice that instead of talking about increasing ad size, we mention increasing the revenue, which is really all the advertiser is interested in. After getting into the questioning part of the call, then we can make the recommendation on the larger ad size, and he'll be much more receptive to it, since we will have explained how it will increase the revenue.
Overall, nice job guys.
